Join us on this unique adventure to discover one of the high plateaus of Baja just a few hours south of the U.S./Mexico border.

The Sierra de Juarez mountain range is a land of cool mountain air and remote primitive camping. In the heart of this rugged region is a small mountain lake named Laguna Hanson, surrounded by tall ponderosa pines and unusual rock formations. We will leave San Diego on Saturday morning and drive down a beautiful stretch of the Pacific Coast to Ensenada.

Then we head inland into the Sierra de Juarez mountains. After passing several prosperous farms and ranches we will continue up into the Parque Nacional Constitucion de 1857 with its forests and historic structures. When we arrive at the lake we will set up camp in the pines. We have the rest of the day to explore the lake by kayak. We will share a pot luck dinner that night as well as tall tales around the campfire.

On the way north we will explore the Guadalupe Valley wine country and visit an old Russian settlement before returning to San Diego.

Costs for the 2-day weekend are $175 per adult, $100 per child sharing the same kayak, $75 discount with your own boat. Both single and double kayaks are available. Cost includes kayaks, paddling equipment, safety equipment, round-trip ground transportation from San Diego, full time instructor/guides, all camping fees and tolls. Participants are responsible for their own camping equipment and food.
