Kayaking 101: Weekend Class at Lake Morena, San Diego County

Here is a great opportunity to learn how to kayak in a beautiful remote setting. Lake Morena is located in the mountains an hour east of San Diego. We will drive over Friday evening and set up camp for two nights.

On Saturday we will start with on-land instruction and then head out on the water. Instruction will include balancing, entering and exiting the kayak, five different paddling strokes, turning and safety.

We'll take a lunch break and then go exploring the many coves and inlets to see how far we can travel in our quiet kayaks. This is the native habitat of many species of birds, fish and mammals. Let's see how many species we can find.

After our session we will return to camp to share a pot luck dinner and tall tales around the campfire.

Trip package includes round-trip ground transportation from San Diego, kayaks, paddling gear, camping fees, launch fees, and instructor/guide. Both single and double kayaks are available. Costs are $199 per adult, $109 per child sharing a kayak with an adult.

Participants are responsible for their own camping gear and food. A detailed equipment list will be provided.
