This tour uses remote camps which will be our home each night. The camps offer a wilderness setting with the comforts of roomy dome tents and home cooking in the camp kitchen. All camping gear and meals are provided. All you bring is your sleeping bag, clothing and personal items. The San Juan Islands have a mild summer climate with daytime temperatures 60-70F and nighttime temperatures 50-60F. |
Our trip starts out with our flight to Seattle where we take car and ferry to our first night hotel accommodations in Friday Harbor. The next day we pack up the kayaks and head out for our 6-day exploration of the islands and waterways. In addition to the Orcas we will look for Bald Eagles, Black Tailed Deer, Dall's Porpoise, Harbor Porpoise, Harbor Seals, River Otters, Lion's Mane Jellyfish, Sunflower Sea Stars, Peregrine Falcons, Ospreys, and Belted Kingfishers. There will also be many opportunities for hiking and exploring once we reach camp each day.
Costs for this 8-day trip are only $1499 per person plus airfare. This price includes first and last night in-town hotel accommodations, tandem kayaks and all paddling equipment, group camping gear, camp meals and beverages, transportation to and from camps, and full-time professional naturalist guides. Not included are round-trip airfare to Seattle, in-town meals, and gratuities. A $150 single supplement applies if you do not wish to share a room. To keep with the wilderness setting this trip is limited to 10 persons. |
