Whale Encounter and Taste of Baja - Laguna San Ignacio

Saturday - Thursday, February 16-21, 2008

This is one of our trips with little or no kayaking.

The Mexican government protects the gray whales by prohibiting private boats on the lagoons during birthing season.

We have hired Pachico, the original Mexican fisherman who befriended the whales, to take us out in his panga for an up-close-and-personal experience with the whales.

On the way to San Ignacio we will stop for the night in the beautiful boulder and cactus garden of Catavina.

Once in San Ignacio, we will camp on the river in a beautiful date palm oasis and visit the local village with its museum and historic mission built in 1726.

On the way back north we will visit an ancient native rock art site and the beautiful town of Bahia de los Angeles.

Costs are $549 per person, plus food for this 6-day tour. Price includes full-time guide, round trip ground transportation from San Diego, camping fees, and whale encounter in the lagoon. Hotel accommodations will be arranged for an additional cost. This trip is limited to 6 persons.
